Before the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest copy of the Hebrew Bible was from the ninth century CE. But now, thanks to the dry, arid environment of Jaylon Smith Kids Jersey the Judean Desert and the jars in which they were put for safekeeping (as described by the Bedouin who discovered them), we have portions of every book of the Hebrew Bible (except the book of Esther) that go back to as early as the mid-third century BCE.
